Re: Tents

Thanks for the post Adam. I do feel duty bound to make a post saying the phrasing of the rules: “tents don’t touch each other, not even diagonally” fails to stand up to even the most basic scrutiny, and can very easily be improved upon :) my suggestion is: "different tents must not be placed i...

Re: Tents

No error there David, from you, it’s my broken puzzle. I had a disappointing number of broken puzzles in my first Tents set which went for testing. I’ve done it again. I’ll replace the puzzle tonight.

Tents

Tents is a puzzle with relatively simple rules. Rohan Rao gives the rules as following on his blog: Place one tent horizontally or vertically next to each tree. Tents do not touch each other, not even diagonally. The numbers outside the grid indicate the number of tents in the corresponding row/colu...

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021

It's over! Both Freddie and Sam round out a wonderful year with their respective division titles, and good scores from Tom Collyer and Michael Collins also saw them climb a few places each too. Puzzle Selection proved crucial in the both Divisions as there were some very close run placings. Division...

Classic sudoku speed

I want to echo Paul’s request for ideas on getting faster at classic sudoku. Similarly, when I have extra constraints, I get faster. I think I must be missing some key classic techniques.

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021

Hello everyone. A mixed bag in Round 5 as the UK's best did very well but many of us struggled to get into some of the puzzles, especially the higher scorers. Division A: Freddie Hand - 805 points Neil Zussman - 699 points Tom Collyer - 473 points Adam Bissett - 338 points Matthew White - 280 points...

Re: Division C 2020-2021

I liked today. It was nice to see some familiar names. Frustrating that the last two seemed just out of reach for me in the 5 minutes, but good fun nonetheless.

Re: Division C 2020-2021

Round 5 is now finished. Thanks to Neil Zussman and David McNeill for testing. It turns out that a couple of the puzzles were harder than I was expecting. I hope you enjoyed them. Congratulations to Maurice on a fine victory, with especially fast times with the Four Winds, notably puzzle 10, which w...

Re: Division C 2020-2021

You don’t need to time how long it takes to find the answer key. You can stop the clock once the puzzle is done, before finding the answer key.

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021

Round 4 is complete. Some excellent work by the UK in general resulted in a familiar looking top of both leaderboards, but Division B also had their fourth different second place finished. Division A: Freddie Hand - 132.07 points Neil Zussman - 117.63 points Adam Bissett - 55.4 points Matthew White ...
