Here is the schedule for the 2022/23 season
29th/30th October - Beginners Doppelblock
19th/20th November - Beginners Star Battle
10th/11th December - Beginners Hidoku
14th/15th January - Beginners Masyu
18th/19th February - Beginners Nanro
18th/19th March - Beginners Magnets
The first round, in a month or so, will be a round of standard Doppelblock puzzles, the rules and examples for which will be on the Puzzle Rules board this week.
If you are competing in Division D this year, you will need to download and print the puzzles, then time yourself to see how long it takes you to complete each puzzle. If you make a mistake and want to start again, you should not restart the clock.
I hope that competitors will be able to find the time to complete all puzzles over Friday 28th October to Monday 31st October, but if competitors are only able to complete some of the puzzles, this will still allow them to score points towards the Division D standings.
Puzzlers who are not in Division D will also be able to download the puzzles and submit their times (for a separate leaderboard).
Upon completion of the puzzles, you will be asked to email the times and an answer key for each puzzle, but more details for this will be given when the puzzle booklet is ready.
A reminder that anyone interested in taking a place in the UK Puzzle League should email their interest to adam@ukpuzzles.org. New players can join Division D at any time up until Round 1 finishes.

Good afternoon - there was an error in the printing of Puzzle 10. The row claiming to total 10 should have read 8. I have corrected the original file. Apologies for any frustration caused by this error.

Round 1 is now over! It was good to see a lot of new names, and it seemed to be a puzzle type that people did well. Puzzle 10 was much slower than expected with the printing error making the puzzle seem easier than it was when we tested it, so apologies there.

Round 2 is now complete!
I found these Star Battles interesting to write. You can't make a particularly small Star Battle, so I tried to focus on keeping the logic relatively accessible. It turns out that a couple of the puzzles were a bit on the harder side, but it looks like people managed to have fun nonetheless. Congratulations to an excellent performance by Georgiy again, including the best time overall for Puzzle 9, though Emma's performance is also noteworthy as her times for the one star puzzles alone would have seen her top the Division. Outside of Division D, Tom set a blistering time, but Jack Lawrence also continues his debut year in the UK Puzzle League impressively.

That's Round 3 complete!
A quicker set of puzzles this time out, with lots of correct solutions, and a pleasing mix of times so that lots of people got a chance to shine.
The round's best total time was from Jack Lawrence who had relatively modest times on the small puzzles but was a good chunk quicker on some of the larger puzzles. The winning Division D time was from Emma Kingston, who was consistent throughout. Puzzle 1 went to Eva Myers, Puzzle 2 to Hunter Brennan and Puzzle 5 to David Collison as everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

A bit of a quieter round, but those who had a go between them definitely spotted the secrets of this set. It was very close, and each puzzler had a few which just clicked for them and they got significant time advantages on. In the end, Emma edged out Hunter by just over a minute.

Emma is this year's Division D champion with a round to go, but I'm sure there will be bragging rights competed for with the final round over 18th/19th March - the puzzles will be Magnets.
