I'm not even close to being an expert, so please pitch in if you have any more tips for Slitherlink beginners, but here is my guide.

And here are some small examples to try. There are plenty of slitherlink online if you want harder ones to try.

There's also a rule that I only rarely find useful, maybe somebody else can give further detail, but for any closed loop puzzle like Slitherlink, when you draw a straight line through your loop, it should cross it an even number of times (e.g. in, out, in, out, in, out)

This can make sure that your loop isn't going to get stuck on one side of the grid.
