2023 UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament

The UKPA are looking forward to hosting the on site Sudoku and Puzzle Tournaments at a new venue - Museum of Making in Derby.
The Sudoku event will take place on 1st April and the Puzzle event will take place on the 2nd April.
The cost per event is £44 which includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
For those who wish to take part in both events there are a few hotels that are fairly close to the venue including:
Premier Inn Derby City Centre (Cathedral Quarter)
Leonardo Hotel Derby - Formerly Jurys Inn
Cathedral Quarter Hotel.

The RMT rail union has announced its intention to hold further strike action on Saturday 1st April (and other dates). I suggest that those intending to travel by rail to the UKPA Open events should check any potential impact now and continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64661647

The two highest-scoring competitors in each tournament who are eligible to represent the UK (i.e. hold a UK passport, broadly speaking) will also be invited to join the UK 'A' team for the World Sudoku Championship (WSC) or World Puzzle Championship (WPC) as appropriate, which it has just been confirmed will take place in Toronto, Canada from 15th to 22nd October 2023.

The other two places in each team will be offered first to the two highest-scoring competitors in the UK's online puzzle and sudoku events, later this year - dates yet to be announced.

For more details see https://ukpuzzles.org/qualification_det.php - although note that this year's costs will be 850 Euros for both (confirmed) and 410/530 Euro for WSC/WPC alone (to be confirmed). The World Sudoku Championship will take place on Monday and Tuesday, and the World Puzzle Championship will take place on Thursday, Friday, and part of Saturday. The Wednesday in-between will be a travel day with time for excursions/other activities.
