2018 Sudoku Mahabharat (India)

Post by detuned » Mon 22 Jan, 2018 9:52 pm

A belated thread for this Indian series of competitions.

Overall info is here: http://logicmastersindia.com/SM/2018sm.asp

The 1st round has been and gone already I'm afraid, but there are another 5 to go. Results are here: http://logicmastersindia.com/SM/201801/score.asp

As with the Puzzle contest, this can be a bit quirky with styles/types, but the quality is usually very good. Be prepared for a few 6x6 variant Sudoku with minimal clues. Whilst there are often some clever tricks to solve these, given the lower points values they tend to attract it is often better just to guess your way through these. Past experience suggests that if you can come close to finishing the set you are doing very well!

There were some new UK solvers who haven't competed at LMI before. Does anybody know them?

According to the public LMI profiles:

David McNeill - looks like a promising solver ;) Let's hope he can kick on from a reasonably good first round and clock some bonus time in the next rounds
Matthew White - I recognise the name. I'm not quite sure whether that's from a previous UK Open or from a Times championship, and my brain is too frazzled to tell which at the moment
Paul Slater - An LMI regular, but I don't recall if we've met.
Alison & Sarah McNeill - a family affair?
