2012 Competition Dates Announced
U.S. Puzzle Championship August 25-26
US Sudoku Team Qualifying on Saturday, September 1

The U.S. Puzzle Championship will start Saturday August 25, 2011 at 1pm ET. Everyone who has pre-registered a username (since 2010) will receive email confirmation (with the competition URL) on August 17. Registration is currently open to puzzle solvers world-wide to participate in this online event.

The 2 1/2 hour test will be available all weekend after the starting time. However if you are looking to qualify for the U.S. team or win the title of U.S. Puzzle Champion, you must start the test on Saturday at 1pm ET.

The results of the USPC will be used to select one new U.S. team member to compete in the World Puzzle Championship in Croatia in early October. The results will also be used by organizers of the Italian team.

The qualifying test for the U.S. Sudoku Team will be Saturday September 1, 2012 at 1pm ET. The results will be used to select three new team members to compete in the World Sudoku Championship in Croatia in early October. The format will be the same as in 2011.

Both the WPC and WSC will welcome an official team and an unofficial B-team from each participating country. The selection processes for the U.S. B-teams have not yet been determined.

Nope, not yet. However good the actual test has always been, getting information out in a timely manner in the lead-up to the test has always been a bit dodgy.

Some notes:
As usual, the actual puzzle instruction preview information doesn't go up until the day before the test.
There's a practice test (old puzzles) and puzzle tips (from Thomas Snyder) that are the same practice set as last year.
Given that unofficial participants can do the test later in the weekend from the official time this year, discussion of the test should probably wait longer than usual this year.
