Puzzle Ramayan and Sudoku Mahabharat 2021
Puzzle Ramayan and Sudoku Mahabharat 2021
In the same vein as the GP thread, let's combine these two threads this year. The first Puzzle Ramayan round has started, and runs throughout the weekend.

Re: Puzzle Ramayan and Sudoku Mahabharat 2021
Results for PR Round 1 are out, the UK top three are:
7. Freddie Hand (139.98)
16. James McGowan (126.6)
34. Sam Cappleman-Lynes (111.83)
I thought the puzzles were of extremely high quality, although I did somehow manage to spend 18 minutes solving Hitori (and I told Prasanna I'd never forgive him for that).

Oh no ... I somehow accidentally ignored that message and have just gone on to the website to see "3 hours remaining"!! Yikes, this round will be rough.
Re: Puzzle Ramayan and Sudoku Mahabharat 2021
Just read on the forum that it was supposed to close yesterday, but was extended. I guess I was really lucky.

Well done Sam! Is that your first win - how did you go so fast?!
Re: Puzzle Ramayan and Sudoku Mahabharat 2021
First time not having to scroll down the page, let alone first win! I'd love to be able to produce that sort of form on demand. Everything solved very smoothly with few pauses. When I realised I was on for a good time I took some liberties with Magic Summer 3, but even so, I couldn't believe the gap when I saw the preliminary standings.
Interestingly, I compared my times for each puzzle with Freddie and we had similar times for nearly all of them with most of the difference coming from the second and third Magic Summer puzzles.
Maybe the secret sauce was having a sleeping baby abruptly wake up 15 minutes after starting the timer. Not sure I want those conditions to be repeated though!

Re: Puzzle Ramayan and Sudoku Mahabharat 2021
Well done Sam that was fantastic.
Me, on the other hand - one of the first puzzles I submitted showed an error - instead of looking at the submitted key, I checked and double checked the puzzle wasting eons of time, then to realise it was stupid fingers on the key - so corrected. I then wasted time somewhere else but did manage to complete a 10 pointer with less than 20 seconds to go and was part way through the 2nd part of the answer key when time was up, so the carelessness early on cost me. Have since solved the remaining puzzles.

Regions round is out now! A lot of puzzle types I’ve never done before. Hopefully it goes well anyway!
