Potential issue: having to place other object (ships) in the grid, along to the sudoku digits.

I would like to mention a discussion about this puzzle in the context of the sudoku GP on the GP forum: http://gp.worldpuzzle.org/content/sudoku-gp-2d-round

This seems to be in common with Sukaku actually, in that the constructor has given more thought to the rules than a simple hybrid. It's not clear to me whether this moves the solving experience towards or away from Sudoku however, I'd be interested to hear other views here.
