Re: UKPA Sudoku Championship 2012 (17th - 20th August)
Thirdly, "Non-Consecutive Corner Sudoku" also goes by the name "Diagonally Non-Consecutive Sudoku", which is perhaps marginally clearer in conveying what the rules are. Oh, I hadn't come across the variation before so didn't know it had already been named differently elsewhere. As you would expect ...

Olympic puzzle
While I watched the opening ceremony I made a special puzzle to celebrate the Olympics coming to the UK: http://www.puzzlemix.com/share.php?id=16340 The bit where the teams came in was quite dull and took ages, so during that period I made the instruction booklet for the forthcoming UKPA 2012 Sudoku...

Re: LMI July Puzzle Contest (21-23 July 2012)
This is the first puzzle contest I've taken part in for ages and I really enjoyed it - a great set of puzzle types, I think. Also the live verification of submission keys is fantastic.

Re: UK Open Puzzle Championship Instruction Book
Hi, it's possible that's in "Paint by 3" a 3 is not shaded?? I stay on this puzzle a lot and i don't find other solutions The puzzle is valid and there is a unique solution which agrees with all of the rules. I'll publish the full solutions once the tournament closes, after the weekend. I'm afraid ...

Re: Online UK Open Championships 28th April to 6th May
Just to say that I thought the puzzles in the Sudoku competition were very enjoyable. Can't say much more here, but came to my office late last night to compete. During round 2, I was interrupted several times by Queen's University security, and was kicked out altogether at some stage of round 3. S...

There will now be no puzzle 3:9 - the first Country Road in round 3 of the puzzle championship, since the puzzle prepared for the competition has turned out to be broken. Re: UK Open Team competition and Deadly Killers competition
The first example in the Team round says "3 puzzles" next to it. Is this a typo, or do all 3 have to be solved? There are 3 different puzzles, all to be solved. However if all teams are having trouble I might relax this during the competition. (but all 3 have been test solved in reasonable times) A...

Re: Online UK Open Championships 28th April to 6th May
Not sure if you're intending to compare the on-site results with the online results in any way? The time needed for onliners to print out the questions and then calculate, enter and submit the answer keys will add up to a few extra minutes, which might be more noticeable in the speed 30 minute roun...

Re: UK Open Puzzle Championship Instruction Book
Often instruction books are full of small and trivial cases, but in this case there are good quality puzzles being used as examples. Which bodes well for the tournament! I particularly enjoyed Star Battle, Hashi, and Paint By 3. Perhaps they were real puzzles that didn't make the final cut? Anyway,...
