Re: Puzzles at the Mind Sports Olympiad in London next Frida
Time to nudge this thread along again: it's not happening next Friday, but there will be the fourth annual kenken and sudoku championship at the 18th annual Mind Sports Olympiad this summer. The contest takes place in the traditional Friday morning slot, which this year falls on Friday 22nd August. ...

Re: UKPA Puzzle Championship 2014
I've calculated and posted a chart of UK Puzzle Championship performances over the past four years. However, before you look, I believe there are seven people who have taken part in the UK Puzzle Championship in each of the last four years. How many of them can you guess in advance?

Re: UKPA Puzzle Championship 2014
The scores are up. So not to spoil an official comment, I will just restrict myself to saying Wow! as well as offering congratulations.
Also very good to see 25 UK scorers on the board, after 23, 22 and 20 in the past three years. Continued progress!

Re: 2014 USPC and USSQ
The USPC results are out! Congratulations to Adam Bissett for finishing top among the UK participants. I've put together some stats about UK performances in the US Puzzle Championships over the years. Who do you think has finished top among the UK participants most times? Guess first (I reckon the a...

Re: croco-puzzle
There may well be some readers who are put off by Croco-Puzzle being all in German. Some years ago, I wrote a walkthrough, but the user interface has changed in a few ways over time, most notably the daily puzzles. I have updated and extended the walkthrough , adding new sections about the freeform ...

Re: 2014 WPF Puzzle Grand Prix
will the UK round of the WPF Puzzle Grand Prix double as the UK Puzzle Championship this year? Short answer: No. They are different durations for starters. Also, James McGowan has authored our GP round. Looking at the newsletter that has just come out, the UK Puzzle Championship appears to take pla...

Re: 2014 WPF Puzzle Grand Prix
Come to think of it: I've seen nothing to suggest it, but will the UK round of the WPF Puzzle Grand Prix double as the UK Puzzle Championship this year? I mention this reminded by mention of the UK Sudoku Championship, which was a WPF Sudoku GP round last year.

Re: 2014 WPF Puzzle Grand Prix
Round three results are up! Glorious reading for UK eyes, with two solvers in the top six out of 287 on the board, just a point apart from each other. I'll leave it to you to guess who they are... and who pipped whom to fifth place. :D Many congratulations to you both! I will say that the "Country"...

Re: New UK puzzle event calendar
I like the way you're thinking, and am trying to make relevant friends as quickly as I can - especially with companies (plural) who sell franchises for their own exit games to potential business owners around the world, and who might be interested in access to a worldwide audience of the most puzzle...

New UK puzzle event calendar
I have recently started Exit Games UK , because there are increasing numbers of puzzly room escape games like Hint Hunt, ClueQuest and so on around the UK and Ireland and no site which has links to all of them. However, the exit games are only part of the focus of the site; I'm also focusing on puzz...

Re: Puzzled Pint in London
This month's standings have been published. It took about three weeks last time, due to holidays, but it was a very swift process this time. More huge turnouts; 11 teams in London (with, I believe, a total 48 players) even without the benefit of promotion in the Londonist, but 21 teams in Portland a...

Lovely to see you (plural) there! You looked like you were really fast; I hope (and guess!) that you all enjoyed yourselves. Did you get the UKPA / UK Open tournaments / etc. word out at all? Incidentally, there's nothing to stop people from recasting an old Puzzle Pint and playing it as an after-ho...

Re: Puzzled Pint in London
Yep! It was a delightful evening and well worth the long journey. Good, indeed, to get to meet so many lovely people - and I know that the people I didn't get to talk to are likely to be just as lovely, and as interested, once I get to know them. I believe that the London attendance numbers have bee...

Re: WPC / WSC 2013 Beijing
The BBC have a show on in the afternoons called "WPC 56". Every time I see passing mention of it my ears prick up... then I am reminded it's a fictional historical drama about a female police officer in a male-dominated force set nearly sixty years ago. Boo.

The next event will be coming up on Tuesday 11th February and the theme will be Spinal Tap - because, you know, the date will be 2014-0 2-11 and, as the movie said, "this one goes up to 11". The location puzzle has already been posted; solving it will tell you which London pub you should go to for t...

Re: 2014 WPF Puzzle Grand Prix

The first round proved as meaty a challenge as expected, with the median solver solving possibly four or so of the twelve puzzles. Fewer than ten solvers managed to crack all twelve in the ...
