Re: Stuck with a Sudoku

Someone clever than me will no doubt come up with better logic but the 2s form a chain. If the cell in row 2 column 3 (R2C3) was a 2, then following this through to R6C3, R6C7 and then R2C8, there would be two 2s in row 2 - therefore R2C3 cannot be a 2.

Upon seeing your message yesterday, I swapped my ABC-Box with your Stations. I didn't want to touch anyone else's assignments.

Re: UKPA Beginners Contests

Nice set of puzzles Tom. I enjoyed adding them to Croco for my lunch break!

Hopefully the uptake is high and if anyone reading this hasn't had a go yet, please do!

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

I can't remember if we do tie-breaks on Sundays but, if so, I will also need to book a bye-day for it.

I'll also need to book next Monday as a bye too.

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

I'd like to point out actually how impressed I am with some of the new blood here - erika, rodders, afcwarren are all doing magnificently, and I can see a real improvement on when they started out. Well done guys! It proves that practice works... Oh, and thanks for the kind words. Indeed, 'tis the ...

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

So what's the deal here in terms of the ladder? Are we to count none, both or only the latter version of the puzzle? Seeing as all the results have been taken down, can I presume neither version is to be counted? I only ask because in my match vs drsteve (in my first ever championship match!), I won...

Re: croco-puzzle

Dickoon: This is how I done the puzzle, which I doubt is the most efficient way: First black out all cells that cannot be circled. The 10 pill can only go in one place: in row 5 (3,2,5). The 9 pill must go in column 8 as either 1,6,2 or 6,2,1 so circle the 6 and 2. Black out other cells that can’t b...

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

I'm going to miss most of next week (not a problem as I'll then be top of the waiting list) and also most of the following week - can I remain in the waiting list for the w/c 20 June and then re-enter w/c 27 June? TIA.

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

I don't mind at all being on the waiting list. I normally do the puzzles at work and have had quite a few days off recently and didn't want to ask for too many bye days. Just so happens that the week I'm out, I have a really decent time on one puzzle!

Thanks Dickoon. Even if you didn't play at all, I think I'm at least 2 months behind you in the Ratingliste so there's no need to worry!

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

Can I please request a bye day on Friday this week?

Looking further ahead, I doubt very much that I'll be able to do many puzzles in the 25-29 April week so I would back any motion to suspend the league for a week :D

Thanks Rishi. I enjoyed the contest, despite making two silly errors on the two highest scoring puzzles which would have nearly doubled my score. Oh well!

Re: croco-puzzle

Thought I'd start doing this a few days ago. Interesting results for me today - at the time of writing, 12th in the first puzzle and 5th bottom in the other! Although, seeing as I had to find out what the instruction were, translate them and then wait for the Eureka moment of realising that the rule...

Hi Chris - I've got the last two or three of Gareth's Sudoku Xtra magazine and agree it is an excellent publication. Think I may need to concentrate on standard Sudoku for now to get my base solving speed up again. PuzzleScot - Normally in these type of online tests, I have a couple of minutes to ch...

Re: 1st UKPA Sudoku Championship

Many thanks to Tom for the puzzles. The ones I managed to do were fantastic. Really loved the Killer, thought that was the best from the test and possibly the most enjoyable one I've ever completed! The Sudoku Islands puzzle was also ace but a stupid transposition error on my answer cost me. Certain...
