Re: Hausigel Contest Series

Thank you so much Roland for nicely solvable puzzles :) But submitting the answer keys were really tough! Like mostly LMI test, it could be asked for longest horizontal and vertical segments for each row, or marked row etc. I'm sure that this one would be easier.

Re: 2011 USPC Walkthrough guide.

#20 Jumping Crossword Instinct is to start with longest words, but in this instance look elsewhere for a start... Two of relatively few 4-letter entries are placed with no gaps at all, so candidate positions may be tightly constrained by intersecting words. I started to place 5 letters words in the...

#19 Kaku Rogue I like Michael’s Kakuro variant styles in USPC History. I love this variant and i am sure that i will prepare for some contests in future. I marked all rows and columns from 0 to 9. And i marked all negative cells with scratching (during the contest and for this; also you can mark all...

Re: Tapa Variations Contest V

Loads of fun, except for world's most annoying typo when entering a solution. Otherwise, I would have beaten Hideaki!!! Mustn't grumble, but still... :) Yes you are right about Hideaki :) I am watching almost everyone's performance during the contest, and really, it is so fun. I watched your perfor...

Re: Puzzle Jackpot - LMI January Puzzle Test on 8th/9th

I for one really appreciated your tricks on the word search. I think I spotted ~4 false placements, but each was resolvable by finding the second possible placement when a contradiction popped up. I was not so good with word puzzles and since I had trouble solving them, I was not preparing any as w...

Re: Puzzle Jackpot - LMI January Puzzle Test on 8th/9th

Orbits and Scrabble were pretty easy 90-pointers as well. I have to wonder how many people wiped out on the word-find because they were suckered into such things as filling in WOME_ as women -- it was definitely a sneakier version of that format than the usual USPC ones. Word search had many tricks...
