Just read on the forum that it was supposed to close yesterday, but was extended. I guess I was really lucky.

Oh no ... I somehow accidentally ignored that message and have just gone on to the website to see "3 hours remaining"!! Yikes, this round will be rough.

Yikes! I wonder if they’ll release those extra puzzles after the competition. Or if those puzzles actually exist.

Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs

Puzzle round 2 instruction booklet is out! Some of these look tricky. I’m worried about making a mistake on 12 (BACA) and 20 (coupled tapa). Like maybe I’ll forget that the lettered cells in BACA can be crossed out, or I’ll fill in the wrong cell on tapa. I think I’ll put a square around the...

Hi v and welcome! We have plenty of different types. Sudoku is also popular around here. I don't mind it, but I prefer to do a variety of different puzzles. What are you studying?

Is there a pattern with 1s and 3s that I'm missing with the third? I'm struggling to get started on it.
What Freddie said is right, they lead into the 1-2-3-1 diagonals. If that is still difficult, I made a video showing how I did it, on my youtube

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021

I meant the classic slitherlink - I heard from some people that the first took longer than either of the other two Hmm, I did find the first slitherlink much easier and faster than the other two. The second two used some neat logic I hadn’t really used much before, though, so it took a while to fig...

It's worth stating anyway as that implication sometimes fails the "skim test".
That was definitely worth stating because somehow I missed that even though I’ve read the rules a few times, hahaha.

Thank you :)

Scrabble type puzzles

Any tips for solving these? I’m sometimes able to complete them, mostly by using intuition though, I’d rather be able to solve it logically. I’d love it if someone could walk through the recent GP scrabble question for example, since my normal method of "this seems like it would only fit here" ended...

Do we have to wait for the results to come out, or can we discuss the questions when the test is over?

Re: Division D 2020-21

I liked this one :) I used to play skyscrapers a lot on Simon Tatham's puzzle app, so I have a bit of experience for this round. Daft question but are Minesweeper puzzles like the old Microsoft ones? I had a look in the Puzzle Rules board and couldn’t find any examples in there. I could easily have ...

Re: Trying to make a knight's-move puzzle with minimal rules/hints

I’m not clear on the rules. Does any down to the right knight’s move which crosses exactly one boundary have the same digit at both sides of the knight's move? If so, consider the attached edit to your example. The blue circles must have the same digit as the blue square. But they are in the same 3x...

Printing puzzles for contests

A lot of online puzzle contests say "print out and solve the puzzles" as part of their instructions. I'm wondering if that's a rule, or just guidance? For example, is it there in case people expect it to be an interactive puzzle? Or is it there because everyone must print the puzzles? Would opening ...
