No, the dead bees are not counted.

Here is a table of alive bees population at the end of the 20 first days of invasion:

Re: BBC Radio 4 - Puzzles for Today

In case anyone doesn't want this spoiled, select the following text with your mouse... So there are 4 possible ages of bees: 0, 1, 2, or 3 days old - 4 years old would mark the end of a bee's 4th year, which is when we're told it dies. At the end of day t lets denote the numbers of those bees by a(...

Re: 2017 Sudoku GP

I'm sure it would have been possible to treat the "Czech" theme in a more varied way. Using the letters C, Z, E on 10 sudokus and the flag on 1 sudoku seems a bit reducing of what can offer this country... I would be pleasantly surprised if the mathdoku, fuzzy arrows and lonely number are also linke...

Re: 2017 Puzzle GP

I don't consider myself as a puzzle player, and I don't actually take part in the puzzle GP. So my below comment is in no case a criticism of the competition, or the format or this round or whatever. As a sudoku player, I'm curious to see what's happening in the puzzle world, basically because puzzl...

Re: Competition for Newbies

Hi Ritu, At Logic Masters India there are some "Beginner's Sudoku" tests. Currently there is no such test running, but you can view (and solve) past competitions, e.g. http://logicmastersindia.com/BeginnersSudoku/ http://logicmastersindia.com/BeginnersSudoku/?B=BI&test=B201312 http://logicmastersin...

Re: Stuck with a Sudoku

I'll add my 2 cents here. The 1rst trick I saw on this one was to use uniqueness technique on the 3 bottom regions. You have to place the 8 in R9C8, otherwise you'll have a big loop with digits 2, 4, 6 and 9 (in columns 1, 2, 6, 8) that would have 2 solutions. But colouring is fine, too, of course ;...

Re: 2015 UK Open Sudoku and UK Open Puzzle Tournaments

Actually, there is a small mistake in round 3 of instructions booklet.

My name is Stalder, not Stadler. :D

I thought that this was a typical German mistake (lot of German people make this mistake), but not long ago Tawan made it, too.
So I should perhaps change my name

Re: Sudoku duel

Special comments about Fred's suggestions. First version was based on keyboard input, but it makes playing on mobile devices impossible. So I changed it to mouse/touch. Keyboard input gives a huge advantage over mouse. So I don't want allow using keyboard right now because in this case we should cr...

Re: Sudoku duel

Who is Fred77 :?: Is it my update? IThe obvious improvements the site needs are: - show how many / who is online - chat. Maybe that's too much, but even just a button to say "Thanks for the games but I must go now". I would add one thing: -Having a new mode of entering digits: with keyboard/nu...

Re: Sudoku Classic

yes Mr Fred, this has several solution, but this is important that you will choose the better solution. The better solution is the same 1 solution, because in some of cells(4 cells) there are pair shared value, but 1 of those cells has 3 digit and we must the digit that is difference with pair numb...

Re: 2014 WPF Sudoku Grand Prix

Puzzles not quite as easy as I suspected the experts would have found them - only 6 finished all-correct, but note Kota beating 2nd place (Rishi) by over 10 minutes! 20 players solved all sudokus without mistake. 2 players also solved all sudoku, but with one mistake. Yes, Kota was very impressive....

Re: 2014 WPF Sudoku Grand Prix

I'm glad I managed to go error free this time, but in good practice I really ought to have finished all of it in time. I also ought to have submitted a dummy answer for the 90 point puzzle - was never going to get that done in 6 minutes I think, but the partial bonus that wrong answer would have gi...

Re: WPF Sudoku GP - Round 1 : 25-27 Jan 2012

I am still surprised to note how people living on the same planet as me can storm through such a set of puzzle so quickly. Don't be surprised, it was an interplanetary contest: for example: Kwak, Zuffranieri and Seshadri come from saturn. The 3 best players Vunk, Mrozowski and Ondrousek live farthe...

Re: croco-puzzle

The # feature works fine for me for the skyscrapers/sudokus/kropkis, but I have another problem:
I find it even more useful to write 2 candidates on a cell using simply the key "-", which seems to work on skyscrapers/sudoku, but not on the kropki.

Is it idelibarate or did I miss something?

Re: UKPA Sudoku Championship 2012 (17th - 20th August)

(Actually, puzzle 8 was ridiculously easy.) On the contrary, I found it very hard :!: The reason is quite simple and stupid: I forgot the "untouch" rule while solving. It is only at the end when it only remains 2 pairs 36 in boxes 4 and 6, with no 3 or 6 in the respective diagonals, thus no way to ...
