Re: UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 2018

Liane, Thanks for posting. On round 3 of the sudoku tournament (Linked puzzles) I found the small grid explaining which rules applied where slightly confusing - do the rules apply to each 9x9 grid (including the overlapping cells)? In particular do the rules for C apply to the 81 cells in the centr...

Matthew White - I recognise the name. I'm not quite sure whether that's from a previous UK Open or from a Times championship, and my brain is too frazzled to tell which at the moment
UKPA Open - and Matt is joining us again this year.

Re: 2018 UKPA Open Sudoku and Open Puzzle Tournaments

Hi Inés, I'm not sure where the misunderstanding was last year. The event is open to all nationalities but only the British nationals can be selected for the British team for the World Championships. Indeed we do generally have a few international competitors taking part from a number of countries. ...

Thanks for the explanation Fred, that makes sense Yeah, that makes more sense! At the end of the 4th day, the bee is already dead, but we were all counting it anyway. I wasn't. My mistake was interperating the English. Thanks to the non-native, not first language English speaker for putting me righ...

Curious to know why the time limit was only two hours rather than two and a half; I suspect solvers could well have been kept busy for an...

Nice instructions book, it always looks so long at first glance... :) One minor comment: can we accept C3,C5,E3 for the Battleships answer key? It is Battleships after all! For you James! Yes, this will be acceptable, however, as it won't be the primary solution in the answer key it would need to b...

Minor clarification of answer keys for #6 and #18. #6: Enter the content of the marked rows using the pentomino "letter" for pentomino pieces or # for empty cells. (The pentomino letters will be given with the pentominoes in the competition booklet.) #18: Enter the content of the marked rows - ident...
