Re: Bot registrations

I also use a security hack and had no single bot registration for years. However, I don't think that it is very clever to describe security hacks in a public forum.

Re: Bot registrations

In this (rare?) case account confirmation by the admin would not work either, because there are real people doing the registration. A better way could be that the very first message of a new subscriber needs approval by the admin (phpBB supports that).

Re: Bot registrations

»I believe there are just some really sad and desperate people« ... No. All captchas and "I am human" checks supported by phpBB are broken. The SPAM registrations are indeed done by bots.

Re: The secrets and the story of "Books" by Igor Kravarik

I do not own this puzzle but one of the commenters says: "Das Motiv zeigt den Aufstieg eines Schriftstellers, der sein erstes Manuskript bei einem Verlag einreicht bis hin zum Literaturnobelpreis." Re: Competition for Newbies

Hi Ritu, At Logic Masters India there are some "Beginner's Sudoku" tests. Currently there is no such test running, but you can view (and solve) past competitions, e.g. http://logicmastersindia.com/BeginnersSudoku/ http://logicmastersindia.com/BeginnersSudoku/?B=BI&test=B201312 http://logicmastersind...

Re: Narrow cave or tight cave?

"Tunnel" ist already used for another pozzle type ("Snake" in the englich speaking world). However, the original name by Nikoli for "Cave" is "Bag", so why not use "Bag" instead of "Cave"? ;-) And, btw, another name used for "Cave" in the English speaking world is "Corral". Why not use that? And, bt...

Re: Tapa Variations

Strange. Excerpt fom Serkan's file: "This list includes all puzzle ideas we’ve received so far ... Serkan Yürekli, Sep. 2012". Maybe Serkan maintains the catalogue, but he includes only TVC puzzles, not variations published elswhere. However, here are three examples of Tapa variations not included i...

"all known Tapa variations" -- not quite true. The booklet covers all Tapa variations used in the TVC competitions; i.e. up to 2012. After that many more Tapa variations appeared, by Serkan, Prasanna and many others.
