Re: UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 2018

I'm sure 99% of the time everyone knows what is meant, but an ambiguity that matters will slip through very occasionally.

the concept of the snake touching itself is more intuitive than talking about shared edges/corners.
You say that, but when the snake turns a corner, the two cells either side of the corner are touching diagonally, but it's still allowed!

Re: UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 2018

Sorry for the questions, but I am relatively new here... 3: Rassi Silai - presumably you don't have to draw in the lines separating the rope cells within the same regions as in the given solution? 15: Place by Product - is the little dash in the starting grid extraneous or does it mean a cell that s...

Re: UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 2018

Fast and helpful, many thanks!

Re: UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 2018

Hi Liane Thank you. A couple of questions, although I think I know the answers! In the 'LITS' puzzle in Puzzle comp round 1, does 'regardless of' really mean 'including''? it is ambiguous whether different rotations/reflections of the same tetromino can or cannot touch (although I'm pretty sure they...

Re: Hello all

Had a great time in Bangalore, although did fairly badly as a puzzle novice (and my daughter beat me). Congratulations to James, Neil, David and Adam for doing so well! The UK team were also very welcoming to us two upstarts. I am now seeing shaded boxes and lines wherever I look, I may become addic...

Interesting fact about 8b is that while the tiebreaker was running (26 March - 2 April) the fourth entry changed, but it didn't affect the solution...

Re: Hello all

Hello magoo Sorry not to answer earlier, only just saw your message. My final wordbox was 9x5: KZEBDEAGT ALTMALTEH PPAMGIOMI IHAUPSHRC XCTNEILON I did do a bit of programming to help to solve this although it was a mixture of trial and error and finding partial solutions by computer. E.g. UPSILON an...

Reasonably proficient at Sudoku and Killer but I do get stuck on the very hard ones probably because I try not to write...
