Croco-Liga Week 1

An early "Good Match" to team Northern UK. I just finished the last of my team's puzzles, so I can now view the results. There were some close finishes across the 12 puzzles. I'll try to wait until Sunday to say more to avoid spoilers.

Re: Reflections on the croco-puzzle ladder?

My proposal would be to rank all ladder players from 1 to x for each puzzle (with 1 being the best time and x being the worst), and use the sum of these finishing positions over the week as the tie-break decider. Anyone who didn't complete a puzzle would automatically be given x+1. My instinct is t...

Re: Reflections on the croco-puzzle ladder?

Re kiwijam's suggestion: I like the "out of the box" thinking to try to increase entropy in the system, but I find the Second Chance match has lopsided results. SC results by week: 4-6 4-6 7-1 8-2 1-8 9-1 4-2 6-4 9-1 8-2 9-1 7 of the 11 results have a 6+ margin, 2 of the close results occurred befor...

Re: Any interest in a UK croco-puzzle ladder?

For instance, I have a suspicion - completely untested! - that last week probably had rather shorter puzzles, on balance, than most weeks we've had. Re: Reflections on the croco-puzzle ladder?

I'm a US player competing on Croco-Puzzle since motris mentioned it on his blog in December. While my mum's British, I'm not, so I've watched the UK ladder from the sidelines. Since you've been gracious enough to gather the times for me, I've been comparing myself to all the competitors to see how I...

Re: croco-puzzle

Follow-up to earlier note on Firefox 4 incompatibility w/ croco-puzzle: I'm sad but not surprised to report that the release version of Firefox 4 appears to display the same issues as the release candidate; viz., that the second and subsequent puzzles after application startup are insensitive to ke...
