Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs
Yes, I found the dissection in the example was almost completely resolvable using essentially only domino-type logic (though of course invoking the parity properties of the path). Identifying the ends of the path only comes into play later on, both of which are forced by the fact that two adjacent ...

Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs
Prime paths doesn’t feel like it could plausibly have such high point values (all 21 2-digit primes is only 42 cells and should permit bifurcation on 2,4,5,6,8) but we’ll see... Is this likely to be a mix of a path puzzle and some dominoes style logic? I struggled to start the example, but I didn’t...

Yes, I would do my most comfortable first, then the highest pointers I thought might be doable so I might have some quick ones to squeeze in near the end of the time. Just my personal ordering.

Re: Division D 2020-21
Daft question but are Minesweeper puzzles like the old Microsoft ones? I had a look in the Puzzle Rules board and couldn’t find any examples in there. I could easily have overlooked them though! :) I have seen two common versions of minesweeper puzzles. The more common (I think) is where you won't ...

Re: Division D 2020-21
Sorry - I was a little slow in uploading the example this time. It's there now, and yes, it's pretty similar to the old Microsoft game.
Tom - there's not much value in submitting your answers now, but the puzzles are still there if you want to race Sam's time!

Minesweeper
Minesweeper is very similar to the old game on Windows computers. Here are the rules from GM Puzzles: Place a mine into some of the empty cells so that each number represents the total count of mines in neighbouring cells, including diagonally adjacent cells. Very simple rules. The logic can be toug...

Skyscrapers
Ahead of Round 4 of Division D, I wanted to look at Skyscrapers puzzles. GM Puzzles give the rules as follows: Insert a digit from 1 to N into each cell in the N by N grid so that no digit repeats in any row or column. Also, each number in the grid represents the height of a building and the clues o...

Hello everyone. Round 1 is now closed. Yes, if you’re eligible for a UK passport, you can join in the league. Take a look at the Fillomino and Tapa rounds to get a feel of them and get ready for the December competition. Ask any questions here.
