Re: Dealing with the Media

I wish to publically apologise for the tone of my original posting when referring to Clarity Media. They explained why they never received my contact messages, which was due to my using the 'divide-by" sign (a horizontal bar with a dot above and below it), which the contact form couldn't interpret, ...

Dealing with the Media

I have compiled a considerable number of puzzles (all of the same type) which, I feel, are ripe for publication in a daily newspaper. I have attempted to contact a number of agencies/newspapers via direct e-mail, or via the electronic "Contact us" forms on their respective web-sites. With the except...

Puzzle Publishing Companies

As a few of you may know, I've been compiling a particular type of puzzle for a number of years. I've contacted a number of national newspapers, but they have never responded - not even an acknowledgement of my e-mail. I've since learned that some of these papers (The Guardian being one) actually ob...

One of my 4x4 puzzles

I am pleasantly surprised to see that quite a number of you have had a look at my 3x3 puzzle and the 'Reversi-Sum' I've come up with. The latter were a prelude to the 4x4 puzzles I've come up with, an example of which is attached. If you download it and try it out, could you post your opinion of it?

Re: Getting puzzles published nationally

I thank Mr. Dellar (whose name vaguelly rings a bell) for his comments. They don't help, but they came from some better versed in the Puzzling "industry" than I, and they were honest, which is greatly appreciated. Although I fell out with "Tough Puzzles" (for what I believe to be honourable reasons)...

Re: Getting puzzles published nationally

I've done a bit of poking around, and the "Logic Problems" book became part of the Puzzler empire. The "Logic Problems" is still done, but I don't know if it's still in the same format. They don't do "Tough Puzzles" any more, unless they've sold it to someone else.

Getting puzzles published nationally

As I said in my introduction, I wrote/composed/compiled about 100 puzzles (in the form of 3 x 3 numerical crosswords) which were published in "Tough Puzzles, a BEAP publication. I have since expanded it to a 4 x 4 numerical crossword, but with a twist. Since I came up with this format about 20 years...

Well, apart from a 3-year gap from 2001-2004, I have lived & worked in Edinburgh since 1974. Surely that's close enough!

Hello from Edinburgh

Hello - I'm Darth Florist, from Edinburgh. I'm not a Jock, being 1/4 English and 3/4 Welsh. Yes, it's a strange handle, but it'll take TOO long to explain. I've loved puzzles for years, moreso since someone gave me a huge batch of "Tough Puzzles" magazines/pamphlets (published by BEAP of Hammersmith...
