Thanks for organising, Liane.
I was doing so well for the first 84 minutes. If I'd carried on at that rate instead of failing to complete anything else...

Re: 2021 World Sudoku+Puzzle Convention
That's an interesting idea, David. There might be some countries willing to "host" an online event who might find the ftf event too much, as well.

My ability to participate is going to be somewhat reduced if the instruction booklet doesn't appear very soon.

Re: UKPA Masyu Contest 14 May - 19 May 2021
I've never had time left for thorough checking before - it paid off, because I found about four errors (and ended up being the slowest of the people who didn't make any mistakes). I didn't like the deformable example, so I wasn't planning on doing those, until I realised that I'd done almost everyth...

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021
My 358 seems to be the worst score. I don't like the interface for sudoku, and in fact after I went wrong, I gave up and printed it and solved on paper and then copied in the answers - which took rather less time than the time I'd spent failing to solve it online!

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021
I did do the Puzzle Ramayan, but I'm in the "country unknown" list rather than UK. I had forgotten my password, their "forgotten password" link didn't work, and nor did the "if this doesn't work, email this address". I eventually re-registered with my work address, but ...

Re: UK Puzzle League 2020-2021
It would be good to have some easy-to-find publicity for the beginners' division that we can point people at - front page of the website, for instance. It makes it easier to share on Facebook/Twitter if we can give a link where people can find something. It might be most useful to have something tha...

Re: UK Puzzle Championship 2020
I was puzzled by the panoramic yajilin rule too. I think it's just trying to say that if the number is in an edge square, there will only be three directions in which you need to look. I think it could be omitted, as it's fairly obvious that you aren't expected to shade any squares outside the grid.

That made for a very quiet lunchtime in this house!
The Yin Yang instructions are missing the constraint that no 2x2 square may be all the same colour.

Re: Puzzle GP question
Well I finished at 102, but Heather made it into the top 100.
By the way, in round 8b, it looks like eight people completed but got the second snake wrong. At least in my case I know that my spare 25 seconds wouldn't have been enough to check my answers...

Crikey - I'm at number 103 in section A. Perhaps I'd better make sure I don't improve so I don't get kicked out of section B.

I seem to remember that in Kraljevika, Prasanna was a one-man UN team for the sudoku, and did very respectably.

Re: New Zealand puzzle team
To be fair, because James has competed for the UK, they were probably unaware of any other New Zealanders interested - although the reporter obviously managed to find out about James from Prasanna, and James (and somebody else - one of the team?) have competed in the Grand Prix under New Zealand. Pe...

I'm afraid the sort of puzzles we do are pencil & paper puzzles, rather than jigsaw puzzles (although I enjoy those too). But you are very welcome, and maybe we can entice you to try some of our puzzles.

I completed my last one about half a minute after time was up. Wish I'd done it in the same room as the printer- it might have made all the difference.

Do share these methods... I just used a brute-force table - it got there, but it was very tedious.
